HEALTHCARE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP NIGERIA (HCFN)

CAMP SITE DEVELOPEMENT

THE VISION:

In the early 1990s, the then National Coordinator of the HCFN, Elder Sam Amaechi, motivated the Fellowship to acquire some plots of land at Okigwe for her Camp facilities and National headquarters. Contributions were therefore made for this purpose. It is noteworthy that in 1992 Angelina Sandy also gave forty US Dollars ($40) towards the realization of the project when she and Mary Kaldeway visited from Healthcare Christian Fellowship International (HCFI) Training School in Holland.

It was decided by the National Action Team of the Fellowship that the thirty-two plots of land (and more) that were acquired would accommodate: 1, a medical centre that would be a model for the holistic care of man and reflect the motto of the Fellowship – compassion, healing and service; 2, an auditorium for worship and meetings; 3, hostels; 4, chalets; 5, kitchen/dining complex; 6, shop, library and bookshop; 7, HCF Secretariat; 8, Secretary’s house, Staff quarters; 9, driveway/parking lots and lawns; 10, Security post(gate house). The latest additional acquisition was 3.9 plots in August, 2012.

PROGRESS REPORT: The Security post (gate house), the kitchen/dining complex and one of the hostels are nearing completion. There is a functional ‘bore-hole’ water supply in the camp. The six plastic tanks which are about forty feet above the ground have a total storage capacity of over seven thousand gallons. The fence has enclosed the camp and would soon attain the desired height at every side. A second hostel is also under construction and is at about the window level. The camp is being made ready to provide accommodation for residence and for some of our meetings and medical mission for our September 2013 Conference.
